Compulsive Knitter

Just a quick post

Filed under: knitting — Marie @ 10:53 am

I just wanted to update the blog quickly before I leave for another long day to work on my fieldwork. (Work on work; sounds funny, doesn’t it?) I’m a little confused about this “Knitting Blogs” thing – it’s the largest (as far as I can tell) webring for knitting, and I wanted to join yesterday, when the ring was supposed to open again. So I did, but after I submitted the info, I got a message saying the ring was closed. But I got an email anyway, so I’ve added the ring code to see what happens.

I also wanted to add a picture of the finis MaryElla. I don’t know why MaryElla always makes me want to say things in French – is there something French about this bracelet?

Very pretty, in my not-so-humble opinion. I especially wanted to finish it for this trip (the people I work with appreciate craftiness), so I sat down last night and sewed on the clasps/snap thingies. (I’m not much for precise sewing terminology.)

I’ve also make good progress on the chevron rib tank:

Here’s a close-up if you’re interested. Ignore the Old Navy cardigan it’s laying on and the mess in the background. (Some people actually ask me if I knit the cardigan once they find out I knit. I tell them no, but I could have if I wanted to!) I enjoy knitting with this yarn – it doesn’t shed like I was afraid it would. It does shed a little, but I think that only happens if I get sweaty hands or something. So I just have to make sure I’m not overheated or anything. Maybe it’s the yarn itself: for cotton it seems like it will be very warm. But the shedding is hardly noticeable. If it is due to moisture, I will have to be extra careful when washing, however.

I planned to add more, including some German knitting blogs I’ve come across in my attempt to improve my German knitting vocabulary, but that will have to wait until next time. I’ve got to run to get ready for my trip!

  2. Love your MayElla! I just started mine and am having trouble getting the beads to stay on the ‘right’ side. You’re my new inspiration to figure it out and get it done!
