Swatching for the clover lace wrap

Filed under: knitting — Marie @ 11:44 am

I’ve swatched and am all set to cast on tomorrow! The only problem I’ve run into is that the cotton yarn doesn’t slide along my casein needles as smoothly as I’d like. And I thought these needles were perfect for everything! I may have to pick up some bamboo needles if this really starts to slow me down.

Google searches have brought up some great resources on this pattern. I found a KAL and this very helpful post about seaming Lucky. I’m not as intrepid as Grumperina – I like to be forewarned about problems I might run into with knits. I like a challenge, of course, but since knitting is a way for me to relax, I will put something aside if it is giving me too many problems. And that’s not the idea for the Knitting Olympics – I’m already worried about making a whole sweater on size four needles!

  1. Have you tried rubbing wax paper over your needles? If you take a palm size piece and rub it quickly across your needle, the friction causes a tiny bit of the wax to cover the surface of your needle, helping the yarn to slide over it. I’ve done this with my Denise needles, and with homemade wooden needles. Hope this helps you!
