Compulsive Knitter

I *heart* comments and progress report, day one.

Thank you for the great comments! I tried Dana’s tip about rubbing wax paper on my needles and it really helped to make them much smoother. And thanks to another tip fromKirsti, I now have a better idea of how the 2 socks 2 circular thing works. I finally had the idea of going to to look for help (since I’m a visual learner) and they have a video showing how to knit in the round with that method. Even though the knitter is only working on one object, it already was quite helpful for me. I realized that you only work with one circular needle at a time – maybe I was thinking of knitting in the round with dpns as I like to do, but I had thought you would knit from one circular needle onto the other. When I saw the video it was like a lightbulb went on over my head.

I promptly cast on for Lucky this afternoon after 2:00 and worked on her (while watching the opening ceremonies on CBC) until dinner time. Here is my progress thus far:

(That’s an awful picture! I’ll try to get a better one up next week.)

I’m off to watch the ceremony again with my husband (this time with the American coverage) and to try to finish off a few more inches. To all the other Olympic Knitter, have fun!

  1. When you figure out a new technique, don’t you feel like a genius? I love that feeling. Great start on your Olympian project!

  2. I’m really looking forward to watching this one as it grows since it already looks so lovely!
