Another progress (or lack thereof) report…

I really should be fiddling with Excel to calculate standard deviations for my data (blah blah statistics SNORE), but I’m playing hooky to give you guys an update. First of all, here’s the update on the Knitting Olympics: there’s no way I’m going to make the deadline. *sob* As was the case for many others, this thing called Real Life (TM) got in the way. I was in Washington D.C. last weekend and thought I’d get lots of knitting time in there. Instead I went to museums and got together with family in the area… where were my priorities? 🙂 The lovely National Gallery is shown above.

I had planned to finish the back and right front pieces by the time I got back. Instead, I finished the back on Monday and am only a few rows into the right front piece. For awhile there, I was quite disappointed and thought I had set a very unrealistic goal for myself. The I remembered the whole reason I chose this project for the Olympics: to get a project that had been languishing in my stash out and finally finished. So even if I’m not done by Sunday, I’ll still feel like I’ve won… especially if I can wear Lucky this spring! Also, I’m getting lots of compliments on the sweater already. Just yesterday I was working on it in the dentist’s office. The dental hygienist was admiring my work, so I brought out the finished back piece. She liked it so much she showed it around the office to the staff! I’ve never gotten that much attention from my knitting before, so that was very gratifying.

  2. it’s ok you’re not going to make the deadline – what’s important is that you are enjoying knitting the sweater!

lucky was a pretty big undertaking for 16 days of knitting – very appropriate in the challenge department though! when i had the deadline for the book, i was supposed to knit it in 2 weeks! i ended up getting a week extention, but i still knit for hours and hours on end every day. my fingers hurt so bad after that!

press on, and i can’t wait to see the finished lucky soon!

  3. Isn’t it wonderful when others, who have no predisposed bias, love your knitting?

It’s not the end of the world if Lucky isn’t done by Sunday. That you rose to the challenge is alone worthy of a medal.

  4. The work you’ve done, and how gorgeous it is, definitely deserves a medal. I can’t wait to see you wearing it soon!
